Bernhard Hubl has photographed everything from Messier objects to obscure galaxy clusters, but those off the beaten path are his favorite.

In the April issue, Astronomy showcased the stunning astrophotography of Bernhard Hubl. Hubl has been imaging for more than 20 years and goes after all types of deep-sky objects. Still, he is most known for an unusual object choice; He prefers those targets most others often overlook, including open star clusters, distant galaxy group groups, and dark nebulae.
