The Cocoon Nebula

The Cocoon Nebula (IC 5146) is an emission and reflection nebula complex in the constellation Cygnus the Swan. The photographer fancifully calls this image “Floating on a silted stream.” He hopes that the framing suggests a fall-colored leaf floating along a silted stream, with the stars crowding the corners giving the impression of multicolored gems deposited there by the current (17-inch PlaneWave corrected Dall-Kirkham reflector, Apogee U16M CCD camera, LRGB image with 10 hours of exposures)
